What does Certified Technician Mean?
What Does Certified Technician Mean?
A certified technician is a professional who has obtained a recognized certification in a specific field or area of expertise. Certification is granted by an authorized organization or governing body after an individual has met certain requirements, such as completing specific education or training programs, passing examinations, and demonstrating a certain level of skill and knowledge in the respective field.
Why?
Nicole Russell with Cellbotics here, if you don’t already know, I am the Cell Phone Repair Trainer and President of Cellbotics. I also own my own Repair business which I converted to fully mobile 2 years ago. You can follow me on Facebook, Cellbotics on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and see my repairs and quotes, if you’re interested.

Get to the Point
This post is not about me, it’s about the term Cell Phone Repair Training Certified. I use all sorts of outlets to gain clients from small towns all around where I live. On one of these outlets I recently had another mobile Tech, who does not know me, leave a terrible comment on my ad. This was my post:
“Cell Phone and Tablet Repair Mobile to You – I am Certified and Trained – Professional Work, Warranty Included – Can meet you at your workplace or a public business to complete the repair. Let me know if you need anything done.”
Be Yourself
Simple right? There is a reason, it was the forum I was posting too. We teach this in our class but basically you have to be yourself when dealing with certain platforms or you will be blocked and will not be able to post ads. So I usually do avery basic post and put photos of myself working and I get TONS of work this way, daily.
The Confrontation
So this person, who I have never met, goes to my ad and puts:
“You are LYING, there is NO WAY you are Certified with Apple they don’t Certify people, I am reporting you, I have been repairing devices for 2 years and i’m tired of you fly by night Techs trying to take my business”
A Loud Laugh in the Background
Ohhhh if you could only hear my laugh right now reliving the moment I read this. If you know me, the term “Fly by Night” and “Nicole Russell” do not even hang out in the same universe HAHAHA.
Fly By Night Tech
Now with this said, I am a fair and self-judging person. So, I took what he said and thought… well…. maybe I should clarify with… Cellbotics Certified? Do all clients ASSUME the term Certified means Apple or Samsung or whichever “company” Certified? It was actually a good point, just VERY wrong approach on his part AND I NEVER would say Apple Certified.
The Response
So I kindly opened his selling space profile and reviewed the whos he knows and what he knows and found him to be a 22 year old part time mobile tech who had some industry contacts in common with me.
So I kindly respond, “I’m so sorry you seem to be confused, I am no fly by night and I would NEVER lie and state I am certified by a manufacturer because I agree there is no such thing for Cell Phone Hardware, currently. Tell XXX I said Hi and im sure if you got to know me you’d take your words back. None the less I will correct my “Certified Statement” and be more descriptive.”
Nothing Good Comes from Negativity
Basically this did nothing for the 22 year old, who proceeded to bash my attempts to neutralize his anger in which I did NOT provoke. So a quick harassment complaint removed him from my positive space to continue making happy customers as I always do.
Certified
In Conclusion, let’s be clear, Cell Phone Repair Certification (Unless you live in California) is completely VOLUNTARY. That’s right, we said it, and if it is stated anywhere else to be Accredited or required (other than CA) it is a FLAT OUT LIE, just do a little digging you’ll see.
Work hourly for the Manufacturers
Unless you worked for the manufacturer for 6+ years, we asked them, only then do they even let you start to look at repair and certification but when we make this much money, who wants to work hourly? NOT ME! NO-NO, not since 2008!
Any ol’ Joe or Joet off the street can grab a YouTube video and Phillips Head and rip your phone a new one OR fix it to almost original condition, depends who what tech you get.
Breaking Customer Devices is Excepted
This is completely excepted and normal, especially among the Tech industry at large seeing as most are “Self Taught” and are proud of it, no harm no foul to us. However, we can say this; even though being Certified might not come from the Manufacturers it for sure gives a Technician valuable industry information you can only get from breaking someones phone.
Ask your Customers This
So let’s ask from a customer standpoint, would you prefer:
- A tech who learned from a video and is learning as he/she goes
- A Tech who has invested in themselves and learned what they need to know to NOT have to learn on your device
- Does not matter to you
I believe, if we could talk to you now, you’d choose #2 but who knows.
And we end now
Finally, Certified Cell Phone Repair Technician is not from the Manufacturer. However, it is from a reputable Company, Cellbotics. Cellbotics has taken years of information and compiled it into a form in which a potential Cell Phone Repair Technician can learn and apply to their business. We also support our Grads 100% after training to take care of their customers devices.
This ensures a low to non-existent break rate on customers devices, Compared to the “Do it Yourselfer” who ends up googling an issue to get your phone to turn on, or tells you, “It was this way, can’t be fixed”
So to the Cell Phone Repair Technicians, make sure to note “CellBotics Cell Phone Repair Certified Technician” In your Ads and to the Customers, make sure to look for that, ask for it! Your hard earned money and device deserve a real chance to be repaired and NOT replaced.
Thanks for reading to the end! throw me a comment if you did!
