Why Should You Consider Becoming a CompTIA A+ Certified Technician?

Many people call me and ask what is the significance of becoming or being a CompTIA A+ Certified Technician/Computer Hardware Analyst. My thoughts are always aligned with being the best computer repair technician possible. Here are some facts; CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for beginning Technicians.

This is where most of us (Mike Meyers; Scott Mueller and Me) started our IT career. The CompTIA A+ does not have a prerequisite and/or prior condition before beginning in the IT/Computer field of study. This is for the Beginner and a great place to start your career or business!

Can you work in the Computer industry without being CompTIA A+ certified?

Yes, but you will make less money than your colleagues that are certified and they will get hired before you in a lot of instances. Why? IT Employers know that when a computer hardware technician is CompTIA A+ certified they have the knowledge to perform the skills required for this career. Even as a small business, the CompTIA A+ advantage is huge!

CompTIA A+ sets your business apart from the others offering computer hardware repair and lets them know you have taken the time to study; are certified to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair all manner of computer equipment.

Here is another reason to become a CompTIA A+ certified computer hardware technician.

You will make more “Money”! I don’t know about you but I like making more money and having the CompTIA A+ certification allowed me to negotiate a better salary and more pay.

Most employers that hire Technicians that don’t have the CompTIA A+ expect them to get a certification as a condition of their employment. The other great advantage about having the CompTIA A+ is that it is OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) neutral.

This means you can work on all equipment regardless if it is HP, Dell, ASUS, etc.… The other part of this story is that most OEMs certifications ask for the CompTIA A+ cert as a prerequisite before being able to obtain their certifications. Why; because it is the industry standard recognized throughout the world!

Best way to start

The CompTIA A+ is the place to start in the Computer/IT industry. Your first course of action; find a great school with immersive hands-on training, like CellBotics where we put you first and know what you need to succeed.

No matter what school you choose be sure to ask them how much equipment you will learn on in class, hands-on. Make sure they supply the tools you need and the latest CompTIA A+ book with access to more resources, an older book won’t suffice.

Ask if the school will supply support after the training is completed because everyone needs real-life help once in a while. I have armed you with the information required to start your new career or business and I hope I have shown you the benefits of CompTIA A+. If you are interested in starting your IT career your opportunity is waiting!

I wish you great success!
