Monjum opens a refurb business

Monjum attended our Device Master Course on July 9, 2018, which at that time was $3400!!!. He came to class after buying a nice home with his beautiful wife and wanted to do something to make extra money to pay it off. By trade, he is an engineer and spoke highly of his current workplace. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met and extremely book smart. He had no intention of leaving his current employment and was quote “only going to repair phones after work”.

Once Monjum got our training on day 1 he was excited about refurb. He did not want to do just repair for 1 person at a time, but he wanted to increase his income by volume. So, once he learned all we taught about refurb, he was in! and it was his calling!

Step by Step to success

Now we give you a step by step track to owning a refurb company, less than 1% of students do it because they earn great income dealing with the end-user. This is the same reason shops don’t normally do refurb in house.

When Nicole broke down the numbers in class and the marketing behind operating a refurb business, Monjum said “Im going to do that”. Nicole in her, you must have a plan way, insisted he not jump right in but do repairs first for the time frame we suggest.

Monjum is extremely smart with numbers and went to the hotel and worked all night hammering out the numbers. He came to class Tuesday and said “Nicole I respect you but this is what I’m doing first, im skipping customer repair and working with businesses”.

As I write this (Nicole, yes me I’m writing this) I want to explain my reaction.

I never doubt my student’s goals, I feel if you are pulled to something, no matter who has succeeded at it or not, maybe it is for YOU to succeed at and not everyone else. So, I said, I really don’t think that’s a great idea because you won’t understand the business owners need but I’m here for you every step of the way and if you need me I will help all I can.

Monjum left the class with a plan, bought equipment that week!!! Went to a great training program JUST FOR REFURB because that’s REAL. Nicole connect him right to the owner and he jumped in headfirst! He is extremely focused and not afraid to say “give me your business, don’t care if you use someone else”. So he made his impact into the repair market to gain clients.

$3500 a week!

He’d post where Nicole showed him and connect with owners all over the country. Over the months Nicole watched in pride as he grew his business. One day they chatted on Facebook, not even 2 years out, Monjum says I am doing an average of 35 refurbs a day for 2 days a week!!!

Now if we do a little math that’s an average of $50 profit per repair (some higher some lower).  35 a day on the weekends for 2 days is 70 a weekend x $50 = $3500 a week!!! From HOME, in his garage!

Now before you jump to thinking this is it! He invested over $25,000 on the right equipment, RIGHT processes and connected with the only program in the USA that does REAL refurb training. I (Nicole) connect you to the owner directly. Don’t try to google it, they don’t show up, and NO its not in a beginner’s course with Micro Soldering and everything else, its solid refurb which is required to master that skill.

He started by buying screens that had cracked glass, which most shops do, they sell their screens they pull out of customers’ devices and sell to refurbishers and wholesalers thus this is the reason they don’t bother with refurb in house, again too busy making money working with the public.

He invested!

Monjum actually bought the equipment and then tried to start without working with the people I recommended but then found he would save money and time by working with masters at refurb instead of learning by breaking $200+ cost parts.

He continued to grow and even went to Vietnam for specialized training with another facility for a very specific process in refurb. Fast forward to August 2020 after a chat with him, he proudly stated:

“Now I quit my job and am working full time on my refurbish business and I am also repairing!. : ) I have my freedom!!”

This was a joy to my eyes! I cannot even tell you how proud I am of him, and to hear he is doing repair full time as well! I could not be prouder and I was sure to tell him that. I also asked if I could write this and he said it was fine with him.

This is a REAL story, NOT fluff, this is a real man’s story of how he reached HIS meaning of success. All from following the process properly and not getting confused thinking he could get everything trained in 1 week. He knew there was a process to this and he stuck to it and put his money where his mouth is and it paid off.
