Hi Nicole, I wanted to send you something to share with your students!
I started in Corporate IT about 18 years ago and have been into anything electronic/computer related for as long as I can remember. I have always had to drive an hour or more away from my small town of about 13,000 to larger cities for a decent job. I always hated the drive. I finally settled down about 7 years ago at an IT job that was about 30 minutes away and thought I would retire there.. The benefits were good and the pay was great.
I have always had that itch to work for myself and grow a business and even possibly turn it into a family business. The year 2019, was the year!
I quit my corporate job and found myself a small building to setup shop. I mainly wanted to do computer repair but also knew it is important to diversify my revenue stream. I researched and found that mobile device repair was a good compliment to the services I already offer.
I enrolled in your class and wanted to learn everything I could about mobile device repair. I think the idea of hands on learning far surpasses what you can “just learn on YouTube”. I learned valuable aspects of the device repair field that would have taken me years to figure out on my own.
I left your class with the confidence that I can repair devices and not damage them! This was a great step in adding mobile device repair service to my business. I am averaging 30-40 repairs a week ranging from smartphones to tablets. (In addition to my computer repairs)
I am averaging 10-12k of gross income per month and it is only growing. The mobile device repair is about 50-60% of my income right now. I have plans on hiring part time employees after the first of the year. I am expanding to provide IT support to local businesses.. The extra income from mobile device repair is making that possible.. (plus increased profits are always nice)
I believe customer service is #1 so I strive for that! I do what it takes to make my customers happy! That is very important, especially in a small town like mine..
I hope this can help some of your students feel encouraged to take the leap into something new. This can be life changing, it doesn’t matter if you want to do it part time or take the leap like I did and go at it 100%.
