What skillsets Employers’ are seeking in IT candidates.
I have been a part of the IT (Information Technology) sector for more than twenty years. In fact, I was in an elite group of Computer Analyst providing repair and support for over twenty-five different corporate accounts with an international company.
I was in the top five service providers for our company out of over seven thousand field support Computer Technicians. How was this possible? What services was I providing? that made me stand out this dramatically? These are the keys to my success:
The Top Ten Habits of Highly Successful Computer Analysts/Technicians
- Award-Winning Customer Service
- The Ability to Follow Written and Oral Instructions
- Information Retention and Adaptability
- Great Documentation Skills
- Time and Case Management
- Entrepreneurial /Ownership
- Self-Esteem, Self-Actualization, and Accountability
- Using Technology to Communicate Effectively.
- Intuitive Foresight/Vision
- The Consummate Team Player
These skills are what Employers desire when searching out candidates to hire and service their customers/clients.
When I speak to this list; please realize that Award Winning Customer Service is first for a reason. These soft skills account for 50 – 60% of our interaction with our Clients. Without Customers, our businesses cannot survive or thrive.
I don’t subscribe to the model that the customer is always right. It has never been true and has led many businesses into ruin! My model is the Customer is always the Customer! We must listen to and work with our customers/clients for the best outcome as part of a team effort. We must be invested in an outcome that leaves our clients with awesome service experience and that invites trust in our service.
What this action boils down to is active listening. Within this scope of service, it also requires that we understand the client is not technical. So, we technicians must take the time to teach and give information in a non-threating manner. I will continue these information sessions in the future.
Now, I leave you with this caveat. Giving Award Winning Customer Service requires that you remember; You are fixing the Client, as well as the issue, creating calm out of chaos and bringing solutions to their technical problems.
Let our Team at CellBotics teach you to Fix it All! Employers are looking for the advantage and with good training the Advantage is You!
See you in class!
