Replacing the Glass on an iPad: What Does It Take?

A Brief Overview of the Process
- Using safety goggles, begin by using a heat gun at low temperature on the right side of the iPad for 10 to 20 seconds.
- Use a steel razor and work it between the frame and the glass. Work your way up the frame, pulling up the broken glass as you go. Watch out for important device components so as not to damage them.
- After the glue has been heated, use a prying tool (or the razor) to carefully pry off the glass. Use both hands.
- Remove the 4 screws holding the display in place and detach the connectors still attached to the glass. Transfer the camera module and home key to new glass.
- Make sure all glass and debris are removed and then attach everything to the new glass and glue it back onto the iPad.
- Use special glue-like B7000 or T7000 plus Tesa tape, primer 94, and heat all to prevent lifting after the customer leaves.
This might seem like a lot of little information, but this is just a very oversimplified overview of the process. Taking the course will fill in all the gaps.
