If you have ever done a Google.com or Bing.com search for the term, How much do cell phone repair shops earn, you probably got a long list of items that make no sense, unless you are here on our site or on this blog post. CellBotics and Flipsy.com seem to have true and real information and is a great outlet from what we have seen over the years checking out their site.

After reading this and watching my video, you should check out their article… How much does cell phone repair pay?. Funny thing is, I did not see this until AFTER I did my prewrite for this blog post, and our numbers are VERY similar so that was amazing! I felt it would be good to mention in my article, How much do cell phone repair shops earn, to give you double proof!

How do we know these numbers

I think first it would be good for me to explain how I know these numbers. When you come to class one topic we cover is commercial accounts, and that’s because we have commercial accounts. CellBotics repairs hundreds of devices a week for companies, you may even see our repair staff fixing when you arrive for class. Our repair staff is NOT listed online although I think I will change that soon! So you can see the full spectrum of our team and repair efforts.

CellBotics, my baby grown with my own sweat and tears, and the help of my amazing team also does consulting. With the collective minds and experiences of our trainers, we work with corporations of sizes you’d not even know exist. Check this out, one of our clients repairs 100,000+ phone a month, assembly style in a warehouse! No, they are not fixing walk-ins HAHAHA just in case you said “What city are they in, I’m moving”.

We have done consulting for companies you see every day in the world that you have no idea do repair. We also do repair for them and we even consult for stores, mobile tech, and franchisees alike. So now I have that out of the way, let’s move on to the numbers.

The numbers for small owner-operated shops

This number is pretty basic and would be for a small shop run by the owner and in a smaller town. You need to check out or EBook ‘How to earn $10K a month in repair’ it’s free, click here. Hundreds of people have downloaded it and the numbers are easy to calculate in there as well.

With a smaller shop, you still have to work to these numbers but here they are. An average of each repair AFTER the part cost is $80. Most smaller shops average 10 repairs a day. I used the 4-day comparison for the naysayers out there but really shops are usually open 6-7 days. Well, they should be anyways. So 10 x $80 = $800 and times that by 4 days gives you $3200 a week which is $12,800 a month.

The small shop take-home pay

Now to some of you, this may seem high, or to some, this may seem low. Its all perception-based so I will go into other numbers below. But first let’s see what would then come out of that $12,800 a month after parts costs. You would need to pay any staff (don’t need any at 10 repairs a day just FYI). You would pay rent, utilities, ads budget, normal office supplies, and any extras you have. You could then take a cute for yourself, I say 45% of that so $5760 a month. Not bad when you get to work for yourself!

Large shop big city

For this piece of your, How much do cell phone repair shops earn? search lets talk about large cities. I want to be clear, all of these numbers take work but these numbers especially take location into account. Always think of your population, how many people would need to walk into your shop for you to reach these numbers? If its more than 10% of your town population, can you get more than 10% to walk int your door? Yes but it takes work! Large shops average 30+ repairs a day, so let us run the numbers.

Example cities

Let’s take a city like Atlanta for example. Atlanta in 2018 us 498,044 people in it, 10% is 49,804.40. If each person was a repair, lets compare the numbers below to 10% of the population and see what happens.

So still let’s leave the average tickets at $80 after parts. Of course, this varies!! Lets say 30 repairs a day, 30 x $80 = $2400 a day time 4 days $9600 a week. Now lets times this by 4 weeks, roughly $38,400 a month to use for expenses and take home for the owner.

Can our population bring large numbers

If we say we need 30 people a day for 4 days that 120 people. Take 120 times it by 52 weeks a year that’s 6,240 people a year. As you can see 6,240 out of 10% of the population is nothing! Now, if you are in a town of 5000 and if we go low and say you can get 10% of the population in your door every year, its possible but you have to work for it.

Mobile truck averages

When I say Mobile Truck it doesn’t have to actually be a truck, it can be you in your car driving and doing repair. A truck gives you a workplaces and you can build a brand around it but you can fix in your car too, no matter how small. So mobile trucks that we know are averaging 12 repairs a day and some we have seen averaging 40 in Atlanta.

Your number of repairs depends greatly on your style of reaching customers. Are you going to them? Are they coming to you? We prefer, they come to you but you can charge a trip fee for going to them at work or at home.
